Prayer at Lighting a Candle

Set our hearts on fire with love for You, O Christ our God, so that in its flame we may love You with all our heart, with all our mind, with all our soul and with all our strength, and our neighbors as ourselves, so that by keeping Your commandments we may glorify You, the giver of all good gifts.

The candle you place before the Lord is a metaphor of the fire and light within your soul. Your whole life’s purpose is to intensify its warmth and illumination. - source

I started this years ago, and just finished it up a bit. Not my usual thing, but a happy thought.

The painting on the left got re-worked a few times; the sketch on the right was the last project on the last day...

Every light

The evil powers love the darkness and tremble at every light,
especially at that which belongs to God and to those who please Him.

psst...

My kids are out of town for the week, and so I'm painting. It's been awhile - and I already see a few angles I need to go back and correct - but, oh, the paints are nice.
